Hey, sorry to have a newbie question. The sticky on wiring options had great info, but i wanted to know if i could just send all of the power to one vc on a dvc sub? For example, i have i have one DVC 4 ohm sub and needed a 4 ohm load, can i just hook up one coil? I have done it before and it worked fine. Also, if i need a two ohm load out of two DVC-4 subs, could i just hook up one coil on each in parallel to give a 2 ohm load? I am pretty sure its ok, just wanted to ask the experts.

Not okay. Power handling is cut in half and it changes the important parameters of the subwoofer.

It is possible, and some can do it safely for certain reasons....but those people are very knowledgeable and know exactly what changes and how.

This is not recommended in most cases, especially for the novice.

You dont really have to have a 4 ohm load for a 4 ohm stable amp, rather than hooking up just one coil, a better way to "cobble" it would be to just run it at 2 ohm and adjust the gain to the same wattage as you would for the 2 ohm load, the increase in current wont bother anything unless you have a really cheap amp. But even if it seems like your getting a lot more power at 2 ohms dont push it too hard or it can be a strain on your amp.
