Hookin up the sister's house

i dk if that amp will work? unless its for a sub, it looks to be a mono output, and it looks very poorly built, no features at all. are you going to be running a reciever as well?
my advice: buy a decent reciever and you can power the speakers and run the radio untill you get a cd player or dvd/tv for input.
oh, and shes gonna have a whole different HT system which will use a reciever. Thats a whole 'nother project, though. This is just for giving the house a little sound.

Kind of overkill but the amp should work fine for this application... speakers ok too... I just installed a 7 spkr system in a house that is being remodelled...pics of the install as soon as the house is finished... Only thing I have now is the pic of the "control" wall.

(after searching PE I can see why you chose that one.)

better take pics of your install tho!

not really suited for this application, maybe overkill was the wrong term... the extra channels/resistance levels, more power than neccisary for the speakers...but I do like the individual vol controls and room (power) for expansion...

ditto on the mono output unless you are only installing one speaker in each room...

just a minute, i will find the other site i use for stuff like this... show you what I use for these apps when they want multi room stereo output.

What exactly are you sourcing from? Is it going to be a dedicated source or are you taking signal off of a home a/v system (like splitting the outputs from a receiver/amp?) are you feeding it pre-amp level that requires seperate amplification to power?

if the source is already at (powered) speaker level u may consider this: (most commonly used in my setups)

or use impedance matched volume controls? http://www.smarthome.com/8262w.html

Radio Shack makes an inexpesive switch box....? Does it really need to be amplified? you can still install an l-pad at speaker level, probably will be cheaper to do it that way...

there are also many Kits you can buy that will do this for you including L-Pads, speakers, etc... over all these units will work better than the PA amp you found at parts express-- what is the price range/limit you are looking at?

She wants to heep the price on it as low as possible.

But I was just thinking of getting 2 ceiling speakers, and 2 patio speakers, 8 ohms apiece, and wiring them all to 8 ohms to the amp. The amp will just be getting signal from a HT reciever that'll be powering her ht eventually. Then, the speaker wire from the amp will go through a volume control.
