Hondas ELD bypass

note that the ELD Bypass I developed will behave no differently than stock when the switch is off, and behave no differently than stock with adequate ignition load when the switch is on.
squeaking under load can be the result of belt choice. when the alt is under load it is much harder to turn. if the belt slips, voltage will dip and current output will dip. it may not be the result of the belt, but simply the bearings in the alt. I swapped out my stock for a re-built stock and its bearings are noisy (even idle no load) - hasn't change for 3 years.
I have swapped out the belts twice, used Orileys brand, and now have a Gates, no difference of course,,I checked the voltage output, and alt side, seems to be fine, just approx a drop of not even quite a full volt..I guess it will be something just to ignore from here on out>I did notice that sitting, If the rpm stays up to approx 1200 rpm, It doesnt squeak. But, Oh well, it does work, and does make a big difference in the voltage for sure,As i was messing with the vehicle today. After the bIG THREE, AND ADDING THE REDTOP under the hood, and running a Kinetick 600 in the rear, Im still getting quite a bit of dimming..Dont think caps are all that Great, but I did put a 6 farad Kole in, and seems to be doing excellent on the dimming situation, took the Kinetick out.Though I guess I can tell the difference when playing for approx 2hrs straight..Without the bypass on, the batt draws down to the 12.8v range, later charges back up, as the switch off, it does maintain the voltage much better, and the draw is min.Approx twice a week, I leave everything off, and turn the bypass on, and let the batt charge to its fullest,on a 44 mile one way trip

the kinetik 600 may have been more of a draw than a source.
i was thinking the same thing, as I pulled it out today, and ran off the redtop alone, and still got the dimming,so decided to throw that 6 farad in, and she is doing great since.Ive had the redtop, so i used it,and took that little 450CA batt out

i was thinking about putting in that small batt in the rear, though the cap is working for me at this time..Havent tried that yet, but will later tomorrow.Im trying to run an Xtant 600.1 XTC @1ohm load on a pair of the Dayton DVC4 HO 10s,and I have the Gemeni VII in there as well..took out my 2 Autotek Mean Machine 66 one for ea Kicker CRV 10@2ohms,and no mids and highs amp at the time..the Xtant seems like it loves juice,as though the gemeni does too..lol

I ran this thread to see if anyone other than me is experiencing the same issues, and to make sure I didnt mess something up..lol.Seems like everything is working properly,by @keep_hope_alive experiences, in which, I do appreciate the information, as well as the HOW TO STEP BY STEP, on the Bypass. You are one Hell of an Engineer Ill tell ya!

As far as belt sequel with a high output alt that has a fife rant case size and smaller pulley size you'll need the correct length belt. I'm my 98 1.6 civic and a mechman 240a I had to get a belt something like 1 or 1-1/2 inches shorter civic alt 3" pull-ups mechman alt 1-1/4" pulley. As far as the ELD you just unhook the 4 pin connector at alt and connect a wire to the field terminal run that wire to a light bulb and connect the other wire of the light to ground. That's why the alt light is on with motor not running and when alt goes bad alt light comes on the light bulb provides a ground to field the alt

"well i did not use any of the said methods i went straight for the kill - bought a 220 amp alt for my 2012 honda civic lx , i use 3 optima batteries as well - have 2 orion hcca 15s and 2 orion hcca 2500.1 lights never dim . i figured i was gonna buy a HO alternator soon so why bullshit around . just my 2 cents lol"

What alternator did you go with? Was it a direct fit? I have the same car and I'm trying to solve my electrical issues
