I have swapped out the belts twice, used Orileys brand, and now have a Gates, no difference of course,,I checked the voltage output, and alt side, seems to be fine, just approx a drop of not even quite a full volt..I guess it will be something just to ignore from here on out>I did notice that sitting, If the rpm stays up to approx 1200 rpm, It doesnt squeak. But, Oh well, it does work, and does make a big difference in the voltage for sure,As i was messing with the vehicle today. After the bIG THREE, AND ADDING THE REDTOP under the hood, and running a Kinetick 600 in the rear, Im still getting quite a bit of dimming..Dont think caps are all that Great, but I did put a 6 farad Kole in, and seems to be doing excellent on the dimming situation, took the Kinetick out.Though I guess I can tell the difference when playing for approx 2hrs straight..Without the bypass on, the batt draws down to the 12.8v range, later charges back up, as the switch off, it does maintain the voltage much better, and the draw is min.Approx twice a week, I leave everything off, and turn the bypass on, and let the batt charge to its fullest,on a 44 mile one way tripnote that the ELD Bypass I developed will behave no differently than stock when the switch is off, and behave no differently than stock with adequate ignition load when the switch is on.
squeaking under load can be the result of belt choice. when the alt is under load it is much harder to turn. if the belt slips, voltage will dip and current output will dip. it may not be the result of the belt, but simply the bearings in the alt. I swapped out my stock for a re-built stock and its bearings are noisy (even idle no load) - hasn't change for 3 years.
