honda civic door wiring.

Xover can go in the door, or any location for that matter. Wires ran through the wire grommet in the door.
Makes it sound a bit easier than it is. Usually the x-overs can go in the doors, however when I stuck my type-x's in there they ended up falling apart. I'd recommend just running two wires into the door and mounting the x-over somewhere in the car.

As far as getting the wires through the grommet, it sucks. I had to drill out the top half of the wiring harness on mine. However since you have dx you probably don't have power door locks or windows so that would make it quite a bit easier.

yeah that whole grommet area looks like its going to be something anoying to do. So could i just simply pull out the harness through the door and just put the two wires from under the dash into the grommeT?

I have an accord and I did the same thing I used the stock wires to connect my h/u to the 4 ch amp...my car has these really scary japan plastic box type dealies for door grommets that I wouldn't touch with a ten foot clown pole.

place your crossovers in your trunk along with your amps... safest and most secure place to put them IMO. Sure it takes more wiring but it's not a big deal.

Stock wires are usually pretty small... expect 18 guage or smaller, so if your going to be running a set of high power components, either dissasemble that plastic dealy, or just run the wire along the outside of the plastic dealy and into the door through another hole.

thanks. It seems like it would just be safer doing it in the trunk. If you can get static by having your power wire next to your rcas can you get any distortion from having rcas, remote and speaker wires all next to each other? planning on installing the power through the right side of the car (where the battery is) and all the rest of the wire on the driver side.

you shouldn't get much noise running all the wires next to each other, although it won't hurt running them seperately. When I had a low-power component amp, I had some noise, which decreased noticeabally when I re-ran the RCA's on the right side... but with my high powered amp there is no noise at all.

Go ahead and install it as your planning to... but run the left speaker wires on the left side with the power wire... it will be much easier that way, trust me.

just sit down and spend the time running new wires into the door. you can compress the rubber gromet and i found using a section of coat hanger to fish the wire threw was easy. it took me and hour to do the first door and 10 min to do the second door. only kuz it was tricky, but u will be more satisfied knowing u have better speaker cable in there, so just take ur time and run new wires
