If your speakers aren't running of an amp I would reground your HU.

If your speakers are running off an amp try regrounding the amp or sending your RCA's and power wires on opposite sides of the car.

rcas and power wires wont make a difference. The whole car chassis is a negative DC line. As you all know negative flows just as much as postive. So that would help none.

Gound your head unit to the chassis, do not use the factory harness ground.

Try grounding your RCAs to the chassis also.

Engine noise or "whinning" is very simple - a slight delay in the power imput that differs from one component to another - HU to amp. The best way to fix this is to make a "more" common ground. In "physics land" you wont have much engine noise... but this is the real world so do what they were saying above - great advice - use a new ground... to explain the power over RCA more - hook up the small 32 gauge wire up to the negative terminal of your amplifier *(or to the same ground location of the amp in the back near the amp) then in the back of your head unit cut your existing ground *(black cable) and connect it to the RCA 32 gauge wire.

*(the 32 gauge wire could be a different size - if your RCA's dont have this ground wire, run one and hook it up exactly as i explianed.)

good luck!

big three helps too! but do power over RCA first, tell me if it doesn't work - i have a BUNCH of other things that will help.

All the wires meet at the back of the trunk but the power wire comes up perpendicular to the RCAs and speaker wire.

I need to take the dash appart again because I am not sure if I noticed a ground wire running from the back of my Alpine 9835 deck. I believe the instructions for the deck said to run a sperate ground wire.

I am not sure now if the stereo shop that installed the deck actually did this.

Needless to say I am no entirely happy with the work they did espcially for the price they charged. I won't be dealing with them again.
