home theater sub help...

what freq do you ppl suggest for home audio sub - more towards 60 or 100...

also rght now i got two subs and used an old box from my car that sounds like crap in my house.. im gonna build two seperate ones (since this is a single vented) just wondering if you ppl have any suggestions on if i should go with a sealed box or what...?

another problem i seem to be having is either a stray signal or voice getting through to my sub - when i match it listening to music it sounds fine - but when i switch over to TV/movies that dont have an LFE channel... my sub seems to pick something up... i tried a crossover with a equalizer dedicated to it and still cant help elimnate it completely... the only way i can is too turn the sub way down.. but when its that low its almost pointless to have a sub... any suggestions?

and last thing... which way should i face my sub with a carpeted floor...? if i build my own box... and decide to add a vent which way should that face also...?

i have my LP a little higher with the gain turned down some...so id say like gain 1/3 and LP around 90
