Home Theater. Can someone explain the speaker connections to me?? PICS

oh ok so I actually have to buy a crossover for each "box", crossovers are no problem to wire eh? Looks like a pretty simple deal. So the reciever just sends each corner its signals and the crossover in the box does all the work and gives the speakers in that cabinet the right frequencies.....

You can buy pre assembled speaker units thats already have the crossover and speakers already installed and connected.

What I posted is a custom speaker setup. You to could go that route, but it would take a bit of research. Not something you just get up and do randomly.

You dont want to just piecemeal a setup together. Check out the links in your other thread. There are various projects listed that cover enclosure design, crossovers, and driver selection. Many have a cost tally too. You still build it but the bulk of the homework is done for you leaving you to focus on the build. This was the suggestion I and others were making since the get go.

Yeah I get I cant just buy and go, research is needed. One thing that just came to my mind.

Say my reciever does 5 X 100, that means each box (probably containing a mid and a tweet each) would only get 100rms, so each speaker would be seeing 50 rms a piece, or does each speaker get that 100 watts???

Id love for someone to recomend a budget mid and tweeter that will get the job done on 5 X 100. I would be buying 5 of each...

By budget I mean Id like to get 5 speakers, and 5 tweets, for under $200 for all...

Have you browsed the projects listed for a setup. You might be able to find something. How much power the speaker gets depends on what the network is doing to make it blend with the other but it is up to 100 per driver.

Yes, that combo would be ok. IMPO I like towers better than those small bookshelf speakers, but they run a hell of a lot more for a decent set. That Pioneers good for a starter too, I have the 819 model, which works great for my needs.

ANd you think those speakers would sound good? Its just a single speakers I think that does fullrange in that set.

ANd would this hookup to my xbox no problem to play movies and such?

I currently have the JVC THD50 in my tv room, I got it at circuit city open box for 100 bucks.

All the speakers are full range and the sub is only 6 1/2 inches or so. Comes with an upscaling dvd player that doubles as the reciever. Honestly, it doesnt sound that bad. I dont see myself replacing it anytime soon unless I came across a deal like those energy speakers. But then I'd need a new reciever.

SO I wanna build my own home stereo setup. What I dont get is how you get so many speakers to all wire up into the receiver
I want to buy this reciever

And the back connections look like this:

Now notice how there is connections for a "center" +/-, 2 sets of +/- for the "surround", then 2 sets of +/- connections for the "front"

What kind of setup can I have for this? Like to me that only gives me 5 speakers connections so I can only have 5 speakers total, like 2 mids, 2 tweets, and a sub?? I dont get how it works.

Is there no way to get a lot more speakers in that setup and a dedicated sub box, Im kind of lost.

Thanks
I woud not use that. I perfer the older recievers.

Yes, it will play movies and hook up to ur xbox just fine.

I couldnt tell you how those ones sounds. But my HT system consists of full range drivers and they sound fine imo.
