Got bang?
I have 2 Kenwood floor speakers, and its a 3-way system and I was thinking about changing the 12in woofers, and putting in a compent set. Can anyone recommend me to some affordable woofers that would be very effiecent in a sealed 2cb enclosure? I was thinking about some comp vr's

no to the vrs and no to the infinitys //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

So you're taking out the sub and putting a component set in its place? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

No its a 3-way system 1inch tweeter, 5.25 midbass driver, and a 12in driver.

I doubt that most subs out there will play as high as those 12 inch drivers in tower speakers...Im willing to bet they take care of midbass too, up to around 200 HZ....

Try to find out where the crossover points are at....your most likely better off getting Raw drivers off parts express...

Edit: Something like this for your woofer http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?&DID=7&Partnumber=295-320

Problems is the crossover points....could be hit or miss....they may sound great...or horrible...look into the projects they have posted in parts express....find something like, sell the towers, and make new ones //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

ew shit, if u could get the parts that fast recommended and build some ported towers tuned to 40 hz, you'd be deadly!!
Your sentence structure does not seem to register very well with me. Either your insulting me or giving me a compliment, im not so sure. Maybe im just ignorant //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I wouldn't use cvrs for home apps. I have however for quite some time now wished I could build some towers with Boston Pro60's for mids/highs, and a suitable SQ 12" woofer. Something with relatively high sensitivity and great response, ID maybe? I am not too sure what would be best.

^^^That sounds like fun...yes ID would be pretty awesome. Wish I had pro60s just laying around for HT use //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Well I want to atleast use some car subwoofers just for show-off //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif, that was the whole goal of this idea

check the thread on the classic shivas/tempests. people were using them things in home audio apps ALL the time when they came out.

Yes you can use the vr but I would use the comps first sence they are more of a all around woofer the freqency respons on the comps are 27-500 htz so yes they will work in a home inviroment just fine I am using a audiobahn 8" sub for mine in a passiveradiator.

If hes just trying to put a little car sub in his home theater for bass, then i dnt see why not. The kappas do real well in home application.

But they still wouldnt work well for the application....you would need comps that can play down to around 60 HZ with their own seperate crossovers, you would ditch the old crossovers all together. Then run a seperate channel with another crossover to the subs. Then seperate the Chambers between the comps and the subs...
You also have to think that car audio comps are for automobile applications, so I would think the crossovers would post a problem as far as imaging goes, I may be wrong on that one though...
