home dvd to car amp?

Well, yes, you could run the audio outputs into the amp.

But, what are you putting where. The DVD player in the car, or the amp in the house?

Because one's taking a 12VDC piece of electronics to work on 120VAC, and the other's using a 120VAC item on 12VDC. So yes - there is a difference.

Get a 1/8-stereo phone jack to RCA adapter cable, and as long as you've got a stable 12VDC source for the amp, you're set.

Jack hit the nail on the head.......the only probable way he could run the outputs from his home DVD player to his car amplifier is if he either put the home DVD player (120V AC) into the car (12V DC), or vice versa. Just wanted to be sure he understood it wasn't a plug-n-play situation...some major adjustments would need to be made either way to power the units.

Then run the RCA's from the player into the amp as you normally would.

THe home DVD player converts the 120VAC to DC power anyway, electronics are not designed to work with AC. All home electronics will have some form of rectifier circuit to convert the AC to smooth DC...just some basic electronics for you guys. So the amp will be fine accepting a signal from the DVD player.
