Home Audio Setup

alright, I know its only halfway through the first semester, but I'm already planning my audio setup in my apartment next year. Basically, it just needs to get loud. I already got a 12" JBL 400w sub and a SONY reciever and cd player. I also have a DVD player that plays mp3's. I'm not looking for speakers for movies and I don't really care for surround sound. Sound quality doesn't need to be great. I just want my speakers to get very loud with no distortion. Size doesn't matter, actually the bigger the better, so they are more sturdy. Im thinking about 2 big floor speakers. Again, bass doesn't need to be excellent, because I do have a subwoofer. I just want the music LOUD. If you can't already tell...the purpose of my setup is for parties //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif . Any brands or specific model numbers you guys suggest? or any certain specs i should look for? Money is the biggest factor. There are other things I need to buy for the room, so I want to keep the amount i spend down to as low as possible. Any suggestions anyone?

Why not continue with jbl? They make some loud A$$ speakers. I got 4 n26 bookshelve speakers and they get insanely loud with moderate midbass. run off a kenwood 4 channel 45per channel amp.

canton ergo series...
awesome floor speakers, mine are the shit, i wouldnt part with them for anything

yeah for $3 grand. im talking cheap here guys. i may have to go with JBL all the way. I have another question. Me and the 3 other guys in the room all have decent speakers. Would it be easier just to hook up all our decent speakers to get it loud? I know your not supposed to mix and match speakers in your car, but what about at home? Again, SQ is not a factor really. I also have 2 Bose bookshelf speakers that might be nice. So you guys think we should jsut bring as many speakers as possible and hook them all up? If so, how would I do that? I'm not sure but i think my reciever only has 5 outputs? Can I do what I do in the car and send more then one speaker into the same terminal? Thanks for the input so far guys.

what do you guys think about packing in as many decent speakers as possible??? could i run more then one speaker into each channel in the reciever orwould that mess withthe impedance?

EDIT: so far that means i have 2 big floor standing speakers (getting old...already went through 4 years of college), 2 bose bookshelf speakers, and a 12" JBL powered sub. that should get pretty loud by itself, but i know my other roomates have some decent floor standing speakers too, so could i hook them all up?

As long as your receiver can handle the load, some additional speakers would be a good idea. You could spread them out so the sound is nice and loud all over the house. Not just super loud in one room.

what if i were to buy a 4channel amp...so taht way i have 4 or 5 channels from the reciever and an addition 4 channels from the amp?? or maybe i could hook up another reciever that i have laying around.

Another amp would work good. If you have an additional receiver layin' around, use it before you go buy anything. That's what I would do.

is it possible to just use the reciever as an amp and not use it for anything else? For example...I don't really want to have to turn on 2 recievers and put them both on the same setting and same exact volume level every time i want to turn it on.
