you guys know any sites online that have home addition estimators on there site..where you enter dimensions or bathroom or bedrooms and add on and they give you a estimate of the price? the only site i can find is this one and honestly its not good at all..http://www.servicemagic.com/resources.estimator.Additions.3.html

Bathrooms and kitchens $250-$300 a Sq ft. for a nice, but not high end stuff. $350-$500 plus a Sq. Ft for marble counters, SS apliances, Ect.

Regular rooms, about $150-$250 a sq.ft.

So measure the sq. ft, and thats a rough idea.

I used the download off this site http://www.craftsman-book.com/ to estimate a home we designed for a project in my estimating class. You have to know how much material you need though, and it estimates the labor and material cost.

That seems high, it might be right for MA though but here is Illinois (where the op is from) house prices are lower and so are additions

I think your cost is more around $100-110 per square foot (atleast thats about right for what my rents paid per sqft on our custom home)

this is no diy job im wanting to add a 2nd floor to my ranch style house instead of moving/boxing/having strangers in your home looking at the house and trying to sell..especially since this is a bad time for selling homes..not many buyers..ive always wanted a colonial style home..reason i dont like the link i used is it doesnt have for 2nd floor it only does for first floor straight on the ground...not to mention the prices are crazy..they are estimating around $65k just for a 15x15 room..

Oh I'm sorry....I read in one of the posts about re-doing a bathroom and I thought that's what you were talking about. Adding a second story is no DIY job, nevermind.

well, this is what 50K got me. I did all the siding. Just subbed out the framing, roof and windows. Its still unfinished " attic space. And thats 25'x30' And that does not include plumbing, 5k Electrical 6k Heating 9k

Yeah, that is a little much I imagine.

Cost me 65,00 to do my basment. Wanted a finished basement and added a bathroom, game room and extra bedroom with a wash room.

Then a 2 car garage with a huge *** cement driveway. Still had money left over and was going to put an addition on for the kitchen, but ended up selling the house for a pretty nice profit I might add.

Cost of living I am sure is higher in ILL though.
