Holy Sh!t....

ivge heard XXX is louder than the RL-s, maybe i was their install
Comparing the same size subwoofers, the Rl-s has the potential for more output given it's linear displacement advantage.

Problem is providing enough power to actually move the thing all the way to Xmax.

Since its SCV 4 what amp will be enough for it then and under 300$.

Good luck //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Off hand, I can't think of any car audio amplifiers that will provide sufficient power into a 4ohm load for under $300. If you are that limited on the amplifiers price range, you honestly would be better off with a pair of Rl-p's.

For home audio use, a Behringer EP2500 would be great for one.

Squeak is right, Memphis. It would take a lot of money and effort to get the RL-S to sound how it was meant to sound, so you'd be MUCH better off getting something like 2 15" RL-P's for roughly the same price. THAT would bang...

Any amp that will do 1200 rms @ 4 ohms bridged is sufficient..... Soundsplinter rates the RL-s @ 1200 rms altho it would probably take alot more.

My 800w barely moved the 12" in 3.5cuft sealed. Figure even doubling that is AT BEST only a 3db increase....output with 1600w still wouldn't be "phenominal", and it surely wouldn't have gotten close to it's Xmax. At that 800w power level my Rl-p had noticeably more output than the Rl-s.

From my time with it, I wouldn't use any less than 2kw on one if you want to extract close to full performance. SS underrates their drivers RMS.

sorry to bring this back from the dead but i have a few things to add...

SS is a good company and mike is one hell of a guy...

i owned the rlp and its very clean, plenty loud but i would like to be louder still...one thing i loved about it is that it didn't give me a headache...it just gave loud, clean bass...i've listened to jl w0's, w3's, kickers, kenwoods, pioneers and even at low volume, it would give me this very annoying bad headache for some reason, the rlp didn't....

i sure hope the rlp doesn't out perform the rls like someone said cus i would have liked more output from the rlp...

maybe i'm just a bass ***** lolz

If you have enough power on the Rl-s, there's no way for an Rl-p to stand a chance against it as far as output is concerned. But off of limited power, the Rl-p has more output due to the Rl-s' poor efficiency.
