Holy crap this beer tastes like ****

I shared my Abt 12 4-pk with two friends last night. One was drinking Miller Light aluminum bottles, the other Pabst tall boys. Both loved the Abt 12. it is one of the best dark beers you'll have, unlike any dark beer you've tried. not bitter, not thick, just amazingly good.

One reason why the Abt 12 is so good:

Water, pumped up from a depth of 150 meter is the basis of all St. Bernardus beers. This water is not only the purest but has also a historical background. Scientists have proved that the water that is pumped up now, is originating from rainfall from the time of Jeanne d’Arc.

The water seeped to Watou through a pervious stratum of sand from the St. Omer area in France.

After brewing, the beer is maturing in a natural way and subsequently bottled unfiltered.

By adding sugar and yeast, the beer gets a second fermentation in the bottle, carbonating the beer in a natural way.

This gives the beer a beautiful and large froth.

The absolute top quality in the hierarchy of the St. Bernardus beers is the Abt 12. It is also the beer with the highest alcohol content (10.50 %).

A dark ivory coloured beer with a high fermentation.

The show piece of the brewery.

Thanks to its soft and unconditionally genuine aroma, the beer can be smoothly tasted.

The Abt has a very fruity flavour.

I've had the Westmalle dubbel and trippels and I think a Chimay dubbel.

I had a (big) bottle of Three Philosophers around the time I turned 21, straight downed it in no time, had a 4 pk of Duvell and a 6 of Leinenkugels Berry Weiss and finished with a few Pilsner Urquells and ended up passing out face first on a huge rock in my buddys flowerbed.

Good stuff though, those belgian monks don't mess around when it comes to beer //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

translation, its made with love and care. 2 essential ingredients in anything that touches the pallate.

I like Potosi beer.... when is this and where? If I'm not working I'm down to drive up. Especially if I can see your sweet *** sound system!
Events at the Potosi Brewing Company Complex

August 25th at the brewery ($35 includes 4 hours of drinking + admission to the National Brewery Museum).

bringing my car there requires i also bring a DD. for $15 they offer to/from bus rides to a variety of cities. i need to determine if i'll have a DD or if i'll stay in a town with friends.

I grew up in Portland, which is the "microbrew capital". Widmer Brothers, Rogue, Deschutes, Henry Weinhards all make good beers.

If its really hot outside, I can't stand some of the normal beers I drink in the winter.

Dark beers taste like shit and oatmeal when its too hot out....Rolling Rock or Dos Equis Lager is good in summer.

Gotta love the Volcano or Swishers for the green. White Owl is good and cheap too, Juicy Jay's.....

spoke with a buddy. i'll be driving to Madison, then riding the bus to/from with him and others. no car at Potosi.

don't age beer in a fridge (slows the process). put them in a cabinet in a basement or area that remains cool year round. no light should be able to get at it.

two things hurt beer: heat and light (UV).

after being aged, it's 10x better.
