HO alt

So does anyone know of a place that does carry them.....I did find a company that charges like $700(but im not going to do that)

and if worse comes to worst what are my alternate motives?

go get the your stock alt rewound. its alot cheaper and you know it will fit.

it will accomplish pretty much the same thing as buying a 600$ HO alt. they just rewind your stock alt with beefier internals and it will put out more amps. works well.

How many amps is your stock alt?

I'm not completely sure, but I'm pretty sure getting your alt rewound can either give you a higher idle amp output with lower at high RPMs. Or higher at high RPMs and lower at idle.

Like changing the gear ratio on cars.

I think. Someone step in if I'm wrong.

There are alternator shops all over, many in Michigan. So I am sure there are a few by you. Yellowbook is your friend. Or switchboard.com or google.

I am considering getting it rewound if what has been posted so far is true, but would still like others to comment.

btw I think my stock alt is 120a

getting your alt rewound would probably be your only choice if no one makes one for your car. did you contact ohio generators. or excesive amperage

iirc reading that getting an alternator rewound won't give you a good idle output speed or get too high in output.

you should be able to find an alt for that car cheaper than 700.

as mentioned above have you emailed any of the HO alt companies?

about 3 of them...havent heard back from any of them except the $700:crap:

so your saying getting my alt rewound wont do anything to help?

i can not say it won't help at all but depending on cost to amperage ratio most people would rather just get an HO alt.

though in your case this differs so just hang tight. try to wait for a response. when did you email them? if it's been over a week keep emailing or try to call them up.

im gonna see what i can do about opening up my own alt business. so many problems and questions about alts i think i can find a guy or two and make a busness out of it for the time. being. good luck finding a guy and a free bump for u... just figure seeing all the threads of problems id like to try it out myself
