i was gonna do a excessive amperage alt as well, but now through february 1 , iraggi alts are on a group buy as well, excellent alt, build and quality from what ive heard, Higher amp at lower rpm s as well
well i dont want to spend a ton cause this isnt that great of a car, but using a ****ing 8" road master sub sucks. I need to get a nice sub and an alt that can keep up. I was thinking type r but that doesnt matter unless i get a new alt
Do you have an alternator/starter rewinder in your area? If it is an option to you having your current alternator reqound to a higher capacity would be a cheaper way to go than buying an aftermarket unit.
Again - I don't know if it is even an option that is open to you but if it is it could be something to think about //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
If you were in my part of the country I'd send you to where I had mine done. Yes, it's some friends of mine that own the shop but friendship notwithstanding they do THE best work in the area....parts and labor (including removal and reinstallation of the alternator) ran me under $150 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/thumbsup.gif.3287b36ca96645a13a43aff531f37f02.gif BAH! @ aftermarket HO units, says I.
rewinding a stock alt toa higher amperage is NOT a good idea. fitting more windings in the same casing, think about it. not enough airflow inside it if theres tons of windings. you'll end up burning it out due to too much heat inside of it.
What do you think is going on inside a HO ALT? MOST applications use the EXACT SAME outer casing. Why? Because it bolts right up. Now some cars can fit a bigger case unit. Not many though. You get a direct bolt on replacement that is the same size on MOST applications.
