I will be running a sundown 1500d and rd 55.4 amp. I wanted to just replace my stock battery with a pm d2400 which has good specs and feel it could power the system but I am just worried about how long my alternator will last. I don't plan on pushing the system very hard but talked to someone today that said my alternator will probably only last six months to a year if I do not replace it with my current amps. It is a 110 amp alt. Also, the d2400 costs almost 300 dollars and I could probably find an ho alt around that price. The other side is that it might be expensive to get the ho alt installed and really don't want to change the car that much. It is an infiniti I30 with over 150,000 miles and I don't know how long it will last. And I might be selling it down the line and aren't sure if you can just leave the ho alt in there for a driver who doesn't want a system. Lastly, I want to be safe about this and are willing to spend the money on an ho alt if it means I don't have to worry about my car not starting six months down the road. I will be doing big three as well. If you were in my position what you would do or what options should I consider. Thanks in advance.

you can drive a car around daily driver with a HO alt no issues once you decide to sell as long as you leave the big three in there.

this is gonna **** but here is what you want to do,

get a HO alt a real alt not a cheap pos, this one will run you around $450-$650.

around 200-250 amp and does around 150 at idle, a POS $300 alt will do like 90 amp at idle at 180 at full rpm not even worth it.

get a POWERMASTER, DB POWER, OR MECHMAN ALT.

get a good battery under the hood like a stinger spv70, kinetik 1800, or the biggest AGM battery you can fit deep cycle.

do the big three with 1/0 gauge, and run 2 1/0 gauge wire from front to back for power and ground, and then ground in the rear as well, (overkill i know but can it really hurt)

with only 1500w, i would just do the biggest agm battery you can fit under the hood. and if you really want to add a second agb in the back and i would do pos and neg 1/0 like he said i wouldnt ground to the chassis. and upgrade your alt to batt pos wire and your grounds under the hood. shouldnt need a ho alt
