HO alt for carolla, small cars, etc

hi guuiise, i really wanna get a more fuel efficient car for a daily/audio car.. but im worried about charging limitations, i will not run more than 5k rms. i currently have a saz 3500, will probably eventually get a saz4500. thing is im used to my chevy and easily dropping a big 300 amp alt in there no prob. what do you guys do with smaller cars being that you cant get as big of an alt in there? like for example, Steve meade is running 4 RF 2500.1 BDCPs off one alt, given he has a **** ton of batts but how the hell is he running all that off one alt? yeah its a mechman but i saw the video from them where they were building it and it was only putting out about 100 at idle and 200 max because the belt would start to slip all the time if you made it any bigger.

thoughts? discuss...

you mean alternator wise?
Yes. Nobody had a 300 amp model for my vehicle either. I talked to Nate at Excessive Amperage, and he was able to do it for me. It was not a drop in replacement however, I had to make a template and have a bracket made locally to get it mounted.

Is that what you ended up doing? if so what car do you have? and did you use a chevy alt or something?
@jockhater2 ; post your set up, im curious as to how you did your alt config

1st I had to convert my car from a V-belt system to a 6 groove multi belt system. My power steering still runs off of a V-belt. I could replace the power steering with a 3rd alternator. But I don't need it. Not runing that much power where I need 3 alts.
I had to custom fit my 1st alternator. My buddy made me some simple steel plates that it bolts to the alternator and the bracket.
And the 2nd one isn't in yet. But I had to send in my cars alternator/ac bracket to dominick at iraggi and he found an alternator case that bolted directly to my A/C spot. I just have to put in a smaller Non A/C model radiator and play with it from there to get it to fit in the car. But it will go in. I just haven't pulled the motor out yet to do it all.

So I have a chevy case alternator for a 5.7l 94-99 alternator
and a 2000 something ford explorer alternator

Is the corolla a 4cyl or 6cyl? That makes a HUGE difference.
If my jetta was a VR6. I'd be lucky to fit a single 260amp alternator.

Yeah and he is just running that all on battery power. His voltage is probably terrible. It's probably at 12-12.5

Batteries only add reserve. Alternator adds power/voltage

Why not buy my 5k instead of the 4500. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

ahhh i see, so its just a matter of custom fitting one and if the car is regulated to charge at a certain voltage.

You can make pretty much anything work within a reasonable goal and the right tools and know how.

Is the corolla a 4cyl or a 6cyl? Is there any engine bay room?

My only plan with that alternator is to either have Dominick find another alternator case that bolts up so I can ditch the million washers. Or cut tubing to replace the washers with.

But I would rather have an alternator that looks like it was supposed to be there factory.

i havent got the car so im not entirely sure what im even gonna get yet, whole point of it is for MPGs though so probably a 4..

and nice on the washers, i dont care if its not pretty, i just want pure functionality

then washer it up! LOL. Alternators been in the car for almost a year now with the washers and 0 problems. And my engine shakes like BIRCH because I have a bad motor mount.

Were you looking for 1 alternator or 2 for the corolla?

The car is an 02 Chrysler Concorde Limited 3.5 V6. When I called around I believe all I could find was 200-250 amp units. Nate called it a universal alt. It was a bit more work, and it took a couple times of taking everything apart to get it lined up right with space issues I was having, but it was worth it in the end. I usually don't drop more than .5 volt on music at cruising speed running 5k. Pretty sure Nate underrated the alt quite a bit, because I saw a youtube video of the same alt putting out over 350 amps hot. I do not have a clamp or load tester to see exactly what mine does though.
