hmm, two 18's vs, eight 10's

Would likely mean a higher Fs too.
What exactly is your goal?
no goal really, i just like trying things out. I've used 8's, 12's, 15's, and now 18's (by far the most impressive). I've never used 10's though, and i have enough room for 8, maybe 10 of em, lol

8 10" boston g5's + 8 g5 gtr PR's. only needs 1/2 cuft ea. But the 2500.1 needs 1500 more watts from somewhere.... but it would be unique.

do u have a SUV?? if so i say do 8 DD 510;s in an octagon shaped tunnel style box.. so u can have like a hollow centeru can see thru.. i say dd 510's cuz myy best friend has 6 dd 512s in a wall in mis monte and it does 150.4 on TL on one 3000watt amp

orly?

this will be going in the bed of my truck (it kind of has a build in blow-through design). So i'll be building a box similar to what i have now either way.

oh, and i wont be purchasing the subs until late july/early august. After fishing season

More subs = more hassle. 10 dvc subs can be a pita on wiring
2 18's
im not worried about how much work its going to take, im more or less trying to compare the performance of the two setups heh. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif

so far, everyones going 50/50 on this voting-wise. Does anybody know someone who's done a substage with a large amount of subs before?

well i guess part of it depends on what kind of music you listen to.. if you listen to a lot of rap/hip hop... you KNOW those 10's arent going to thunder like the 18's... but 10's would probably get louder tuned higher, playing in the 40-50hz. area.

and why is that? I've had 8" subs play just as low as the 18's i have no. Of course the 18's did it louder, but that is comparing two 8's to two 18's, which is a huge differentiation in cone area. In this situation, the 10's will have more cone area.

I ran 7 re8's in my truck (I know, odd number, its just how much space I had)

It was definately fun to do the multiple driver gig, don't think I'd do it again though. While it looks cooler and its different, throwing in two capable woofers is alot easier.

...i'm a lazy bastard though, so keep that in mind

i'd rather put X amount of power to 8 drivers with two coils each vs 2 drivers with two coils each... Thats me being rational.
would think less power compression that way, which would be a good advantage to the 10's
