Historians think George Bush Sucks

If the parallels are there they have every right to broadcast it, it is news, it could be the biggest news event of the decade. If we do go into another depression, 9/11 will pale in comparison as a news event and tragedy.
You sir, know nothing about economics...

Now, I didn't say there weren't problems with the economy, but broadcasting it only creates fear and uncertainty which will SURELY make it worse.
We need more shootings, stabbings, etc in this country to take up some news time. The news only likes putting on negative stories and I'm tired of hearing about the dow being its lowest in 2 years, oil at another record high, food prices up, etc.

I agree that the constant inundation of negative news in regards to the market/economy/oil/etc only helps to fuel the fire and the downward spiral when people freak out.

Meh, I know enough. I do love how economists think they are the smartest thing this world has ever seen when if they would have treid for a real degree they would have failed miserably.
I'm sorry, because understanding how money flows in the ways that it does is such an easy task.

It is apparently out of your grasp of understanding anyways.

And simply knowing "Higher demand equals higher prices" is not enough...

It is a pretty easy task, I understand it quite well actually. However I never felt the need to study something as pointless and useless and as easy as economics, I prefer an actual challenge.

So you could explain something like, why some countries are poor and others are rich, to me?

First and foremost that is an EXTREMELY loaded question, the reasons why some countries are poor and some are rich has to do with much more than economics. It has to do with social factors, location, natural resources, culture and a myriad of other things which are not included in economics. To think the answer to that boils down to only economics is a gross oversimplification and does not do justice to the complexities behind the problems.

You still have the best avatar by far though.

Ahh, but you see, economics is the study of everything you just mentioned. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

And I applaud you being able to realize it was a loaded question. More so for the fact that it's not 100% clear why, but there are always theories and ideas of course.

It hits those topics in a broad way. Anthropologists would be able to answer the question better than an economist would I believe, lol. As for that, do you know how and why magnetism flows through certain materials better than others and what makes materials magnetic, lol. Sorry, just had to bring up something from a REAL science //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Um, Tiger Bass, while I agree with you on some things, if you look at the economy now and at the start of the Great Depression there are a surprising number of parallels. Stocks driven up on credit buying and speculation ie. oil, loans people can't pay back ie. mortgage crisis, plummeting dollar value and extremely low consumer confidence. I don't think we will have another depression, but I do think we will see the biggest recession since the depression.
we cant have another depression alan greenspan came out and said the company he used to represent would never start another depression..
