High Income Career Choices?

do something you love to do bro, i love to help ppl so it is emt/firefighting for me.....the pay is going to be less than 30,000 for a couple ears and after that it will be around 80,000 its not the best pay b ut it will be fun =)

Thinking of getting an A.A.S IT major network concentration. Upon completion I can get Cisco certs or an A+ etc. Hoping to get Cisco and be a network admin somewhere. Think I'm headed the right way?
If you like the idea of moving to a foreign country (say india) and working for 5 bucks an hour you're headed the right way.

Honestly though, from where I sit it seems network admin positions aren't offshored as much as system admin positions. Doesn't mean that might not change in the very near future though.

Get a job working for the town/city. Sanitation, water and waste, etc. Decent pay, good to very good benefits, etc.
Aslong as you are not in one of the cities and states with dwindling budgets that have to cut gov employees this is a good one. Stability and good benefits. Its not always about the money, sometimes its good to feel secure, work an 8 hour job, and not have to worry about your future so much. Thats been sounding pretty **** nice lately.

I dont think I have to worry about any foriegners taking over where I'm at. I'm hoping for a local gig at a hospital, school etc...

Not any of the choices i would choose... maybe think medical field, such as pharmacy? maybe even sales of pharmacy crap (what im lookin into)
good money to be made in selling medical equipment to hospitals. my step father went to kent for business management and got a job right after he graduated and has been with the company since then. he has been regional sales manager for a good while now and does a lot of traveling all over the u.s. a few days a month and makes over $300k. he has been great money for many years now and he is only 46 years old. op if you already are going for buisness managemant this is something to look into.

if your tired of school or whatever you can look into a trade union. i am in the operators union (operate heavy equipment). its nice to get paid to play with big toys. great pay, excellent retirement etc. they have a nice apprenticeship program. check your local I.U.O.E hall for info.

Which is why I work where I do.

A+ isn't on the same level as a Cisco cert. I got my A+ in high school. Cisco is alot more too it. Start with A+ and Net+, then get your Cisco

Not to be debbie downer but read up on h1b visas a little. Small local gigs is a smart plan though, unless they use a hiring company they usually don't have the means to get ahold of h1b tech workers.

Aslong as there is somebody in another country willing to do your job for 1/10 of the pay, your company will find ways to make it happen. Things aren't great now in the tech industry and guaranteed to only get worse from here. I'm starting to think more for the long haul and less about the next few years, and its bleak //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif
Thats why I work IT for the army. Its not like their going to outsource to another country for it.
