no its true... we had amps that were rated at lesser power (JL 500/1 and Audiobahn A8000T) than the hifonics 1500 yet they made the subs (Type R's) somehow pound even louder. the gains were all set equally too.

he didnt abuse it either. He just put the bass boost up for like a few seconds and bam! we dont even know if it blew though.. we just sent it back to indoaudio and they sent us a new one.

what i dont understand is why put bass boost on an amp when its useless/harmful.

anyways you get what u pay for: $.16 per watt (assuming amp is $250)

now back on to topic:

go for the orion 1200d over the hifonics.

bass boost = marketing. It is useless. And by turning up that bass boost, he overdrove the amp, clipping it and thats why it broke.

well, i didnt really set my gain, just turned it up to about where i thought it should be...

never had any problems though

who said was abusing my amps...hifonics are crap...just the way it built...bad quality...you could get some other good quality like mtx or something, rated less than the hifonics is and be louder because of the quality of the amp

I have 22 years as an audio design engineer and can attest that the Hifonics Brutus series amplifiers are a great design.

Either you had a defective amp or did something wrong. Because my BX1500D sure puts out more power than a 500/1.

I don't know where all this negative Hifonics attitude is coming from. It is a decent amp for the price. Supplys plenty of power and has good features. No there not the best, but who is???

When Hifonics was it's own company in the 80's, they were the king.

When API bought them, they got rid of the original engineers, took the product to Korea to be designed, engineered and manufactured, the product went down hill for 5-6 years and you couldn't even find an add for the products.

Maxxsonics bought them 31/2 years ago, hired the original engineers and redigned the product to "old school" methods with todays modern components and manufacturing equipment and is better product today then ever before.

The Brutus is there bread and butter products (inexpensive) but their new GEN XX amps are far superior to every other big mono blok amps available.

Ultra D-Class 1600 watts RMS all the way up to 10,000 watts RMS

0.1% THD & N, 13.8 volts.

There going to blow away the competition in SPL this year.

Get on the bus or get run over by it!

Zed was great in the day. What happened to Zed after Hifonics?

However, they were limited by avaiablity of parts made at that time and the lack of high speed modern auto insertion equipment used in todays modern factories.

Aren't all electronics better today??? computers, cell phones, pda's, W-Fi, all wireless music mediams and equipment?

Hifonics uses old school desihn integrity with todays modern components and factories.

my thoughts are that the hifonics arent pos like say a boss amp sony ect. but aren't exactly the best that money can buy either with 85 degree C capacitors, bieng barely underrated ect. in a nut shell a good decent get-the-job done amp. not a pos but not "the shit" either u got to remember the 250 price it from unathorized internet dealer. a "real" dealer would probally sell it for a lot more than say ikesound.

The hifonics Brutus amps are ok.

They are a great bang for the buck product and are as good as any other amp in there price range. better then most in fact.

The hifonics GENXX amps are the real story.

These are with out a doubt the best high power amps avaialble for my money.

RMS watts: 1600, 2000, 3200, 5000 & yes...10,000 F....n watts!!!
