Hey all. My buddy just bought a 12'' Hifonics Atlas. We went to hook it up today to this amp:

However, whenever the bass on the head unit is turned up at all, or if the volume is turned up too high the amp goes into protect. Why is this? His head unit does have a loud button that he does use. What could it be? We double checked all the connections and everything is fine. someone please help?

Well I just looked it up and it is bridged at 4 ohms. And the speaker itself is a 4 ohm speaker....which doesn't seem right to me now that I see it....

it still shouldn't go into protect right away. make sure you haven't allowed the speaker wire to cross anywhere and touch the opposite side. frayed wire at the speaker outputs on the amp maybe.
