Any number of things could have caused that dimming. But as long as your alt and battery are in good shape, you have good grounds, and your gains are set right, you will be fine. A/B amps consume more amperage to produce the same wattage as a class D, as well.

So the Audiopipe APSM-1500 should be fine on my electrical? It shouldn't be any more of a strain than the Sony even though it's more watts, because it's a Class D?

It wasn't the amps causing the dimming. There was either a not-so-good ground, or a improper gain setting, or something going else on there.... Running that amp at 4 ohms is not going to draw much at all from your electrical system, as long as it's properly installed and set.

Thanks man I needed that bit of reassurance! I'll make to sure to install everything correctly. I'll post some pics and what-not Friday when I'm setting it up to see if the ground is good and what-not.
