No one knows. The people saying Hifonics are over rated are mostly people who have never owned one. I do believe there was a bench sheet a while back showing a bx1500d over rated by about 200 watts. But supposedly the new line released are of a better build quality and produce rated power. But until some one gets one benched again no one knows...
All in all, they are decent amps for the lower budget person. I had two that served me well.
generally they are not really overrated, like 100-200 watts. in my experience with hifonics they didn't like be run at 1 ohm either. you'll probably get 1900-2000 watts though.
2 shed some light both of my amps bx1000d and bx1500d were ran @ 2 and 1ohm. Never had a problem with them. Sold them and the new owner is still using them happily. Your always going to find an electronic piece of equipment that does not work correctly. It seems Hifonics has had their fare share of equipment failure. This might be due to the build quality...
2200's are the only Brutus amps I'd recommend...particularly because they are VERY similar to some amps that have tons of dB Drag championships under their belt...//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
