HiFonics BX1500D Current Draw

I have a 1993 Ford Explorer with a stock alternator. I want to get a bigger power supply than what I have now (~800W) for my brahma 15. I was thinking a HiFonics BX1500D because it's somewhat affordable on ebay.

My question is regarding the current draw and the strain I may put on my electrical system. If I got one of these, would I need to upgrade my alternator or buy a new one? Recommendations on products, or ampere levels are welcome.

4065 - probably around 20 or so

The rest of your cars electrical system - I'd say around 40 or so, to be a little generous

even if the amp was 100% efficient.. still be a bit over 100 amps..

I figured more like around 120. Steve (ss3079) said 180A, which I didn't expect at all.

its not 1-ohm stable. At 4 ohms, it puts out around 900-950 watts. Hopefully i'll get around to benching it some day. I'm not sure what the current draw is, only that my lights don't dim //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
