HID's, which to get? High wattage or low?

It's cheaper to get the high output regular bulbs as opposed to converting to HID or Xenon.

I have Sylvania SilverStars in my car and I really like 'em. They're around $20/apiece and my car has separate high and low beams so I had to have 4 of 'em but after having installed them I find them to be worth every penny. Those are a direct plug-n-play type of affair that require no modification to your wiring harnesses.

It should be the same with any aftermarket same-wattage bulbs.

If you go with the really high-output bulbs (80~100 watt) you'll likely need to upgrade the harness where the bulb plugs in as the higher current draw is generally too much heat for the factory wiring to sustain. I know at Pep Boys in the lighting section those APC bulbs that are supposed to be way bright have the upgraded harnesses hanging somewhere real close to them 'cause you'll need 'em.

awesome thanks for the info man.

yeah hes right those HIDs are nice if you can afford themn but not everyone has that kinda money laying around, also PIAA has some of the nicest ones you can get to, there a lil more than the silverstars but sure look good!, they give a similiar HID ocean blue look.

nah i aint getting the kits. I just wanted something near HID look with a fair price. I stumbled upon http://www.luminicsbulbs.com. Free express shipping, same day shipping, free LED flashlight. Hoping for the best here!

I ordered the 9004 and the 881 they are both 65/45w with 14/120w output at 5150 Color temp with very low heat output //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

I've heard good things about Luminics. I like my MTECs though. You really don't want to get one of those $3-400 plug n' play HID kits because of all the glare your stock headlight housing will produce. Here's a link of what you can expect to see once you hook one of those kits up: http://forums.evolutionm.net/attachment.php?attachmentid=68864

A true HID setup should have a sharp cutoff of light right about hood/headlight level:http://spiicytuna.com/DSM/projector/20_audi.jpg or http://www.turntableteknicianz.com/carpics/S14%20HID/beam2.JPG

That's why everyone and there mother doesn't have HIDs. To do it right you need a full retrofit with projectors and lots of headlight modding, that gets a bit pricey.
