I kinda would like to get some for my '95 Z32...

Are kits from places like www.GoHID.com and www.xenondepot.com legit/worth it?

I know the HID bulbs can cause the headlamps to melt but thats with a high watt bulb (80W and up)..but do you think those kits would case my headlamps to melt? Id rather not ruin my headlamps cuz thatd be $1200 for new heads...

i can tell you that xenondepot.com is legit. atleast thats what i have read from other forums.

but im not too sure if they hid would melt your headlamp. i think you should be fine though.

I'm not sure about the headlamp melting, since HID bulbs usually run at a smaller wattage then regular halogen bulbs. The reason HID is not good for stock headlamps is because they scatter the light in all directions making it very hard for oncoming drivers to see. If your headlamp is a projector headlamp it should be just fine, since the projector will give the beam a nice straight appearance to oncoming drivers. HIDs do not make your headight melt. I was running 2 sets of hids in my millenia, one was a plug and play and the other was a TSX retro.

cpierce is right that the light can scatter. it would work best with stock projectors. But there are some headlights that it also works well on

thats the best front shot I can find..to look at the headlamps to see if they will project the HID's or just spread them... (o btw the lights that are on are the high beams..i wil get HID for low...my highs are bright enuf)

the '98 300ZX (Japan only) had Xenon's and the headlamps are same except their silver and more round on inside

hids produce less heat than halogen. my suggestion to you is go to http://www.hidplanet.com/forums/ and do some reading.

usually you have to get a whole conversion hit to run hids or atleast thats how my eclipse was and my audi is.

The most reputable xenon kits I have seen can be purchased from http://www.umnitza.com/

These guys are both ISO and TS certified (see: stringent quality standards) and have been making HID kits for a long time....I HIGHLY recommend them!!!!!

That simply won't happen. Contrary to popular belief, true Xenon HID kits run cooler than a standard halogen filament.
