HID Conversion: Is it worth it?

i have halo, i already had projectors but i use 6500k

my buddy uses 8000k and it looks hella sick but he lost a little sight distance

there is also a guy thast uses 30000k thayts purple and it like he has no light, lol.. just purple

Might be worth it.
cops here like to pick on the ricers who have bright blue hids in the factory housings that blind you so i figured the extra cost of the headlights would be cheaper than tickets.

IMO: if you don't have projectors or if your headlights don't have a cut-off point...i say no, because then the light is just gonna shine everywhere and blind on comming traffic..

but 6k shouldn't be too bad if you go with hid's

i was going to attempt a HID kit in my projector headlights, but everywhere i read online said the housings coulnt take the heat of the HID's. that was with my S10 projectors... idk about others

hopefully ill be picking up a GMC Sierra this week and i want either HID's or HID's in projector housings... hope it works out. i dont want my ish to melt.

just with the halogen bulbs in my projectors, they would get pretty dam hot. i couldnt touch the top of the light housing.

that's very, any hid kit in stock or aftermarket headlight are gonna get really hot b/c they weren't designed for hid's.

most of us prelude guy get the projectors for a tsx or e46, retrofitted into our headlights. still get hot though.

haha melt?

I have honestly never heard this in my life.

Link to melting from HIDs?

I mean i guess it could get pretty hot on a 5hr drive at night maybe...but i still dont see it melting plastic.

I mean when you do a retrofit you put ur headlight in the oven at 350 to heat up the glue than pry it apart....and the headlight is still perfect.

i was told that if you get 55W kits to go one color up then what you want because the extra light "washes out" some of the color, for instance if you want a 6K light, you should get 8K bulbs with a 55W ballast and the light will be close to what a 6K would put out color wise

I thought the same thing....but my 55w 6000k looks similar as my 35w 6000, just a lot more output

this.
+ retro-fit to projectors.
+ money to burn

Fixed.

if not then just go with a regular hid kit install. Yes, the beam patters it won't be absolutely perfect but you'll save //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/greedy.gif.5a53e6246569d7ab79867170f3b06629.gif:greedy:

I got 6k's in my car. nice bright light with a tiny tiny hint of blue. wouldn't go past 8k's IMO

Go with the s2k projectors if you can...you sacrifice some distance for wideness..

s2k's are rare and hard to find, hidplanet dot com is a good place to check out btw...

I went with ddm tuning 55w, 6000k, slim balast and love them. They're cool as a cucumber in my stock headlights but I'm buying projectors this weekend. Never had anyone flash me yet and great for spotting all the deer around my parts.....those bastards.

Some factory chrome housings actually have a decent cutoff point. I have NEVER been flashed by anyone, and probably drive more interstate than most of you. I have HIDs...in a lifted pickup. My kit also retains low and high beam. 35w 6k. Search Retro-solutions, their kits are high quality with digital ballasts so you get no radio interference.
