Im simply going by what i was told, by multiple other mods here. How was his log-in info 'taken'?
Well if that's true, it would change my opinion of him. But no offense, until something at least less vague is learned, Im gonna have to go with what 3 other mods told me specifically. All I can assume from your info is, he wrote his log-in info down somewhere and his little brother found it. Even if something like that were true, why did it take his account getting banned to stop the process? He could have, once having been made aware of the problem, changed the log in info and stopped the problem. Again if the info Ive been given is wrong, Id change my view. But for now, the mods' story seems more plausible, and specific. Not that my opinion matters more than anyone else here, its just my opinion.
The reason for your vague replies? I ask because, honestly, it seems hard to believe JD, such a regular visitor and moderator, would need to write down his log-in info. Unless he has a severe memory problem. With your account of what really happened, the devil is in the details. Maybe you feel some personal reason to not tell us, or maybe its because you know the details reveal he was not safe enough with his info so as to create the problem himself. Again I have a hard time coming up with a reason a reasonably intelligent person would need to write down his log-in info, or how he would place it somewhere that could be 'stumbled' upon by someone else who might use it in a negative manner. Its easy to paint a positive portrait of a negative situation by remaining vague enough that nobody really knows what happened. I cannot conceive of why you would feel the need to imply you know the real details, yet cannot divulge them. Seems if he is innocent, and you obviously care about people's opinions of him here, you, and he both, would want people to know those innocent details.
