Hey you evolutionists...

This is one of the reasons I dislike religion, it teches us that people are inherently bad, that we should hate each other if not for the divine intervention of God.
People make bad choices? You see a man with a gun walking up behind woman, clearly intending to shoot her. You know that you could safely grab the gun from the armed man's hands, do you? If you do not, are you to blame for her death, at least partially? If your God has the power to remove the weapon from the hand, or better yet create a world in which that hand never wants to hold such a weapon, is he at least not partially to blame for the death? Yet you tell me he forgives us for our sins.

He created this world, with all its tests and tribulations and flaws and pain... he created it, remember? Yet we are the ones to ask for his forgiveness for making choices we feel we must at the time. I ask why your god holds no responsibility for the evil of this world, and your reply is not to worry because he forgives us for all this evil. Circular logic that religions LOVE to use because there is no escape from it. If you have the faith to beliove in this circular logic, you are locked in.

Did God make Eve eat the apple? Nope. But why in the world did he put the apple there in the first place? Why would he create a species with individul choices, and then lead them down a life of one test after another just to define themselves to their creator? Circular logic on the highest scale.
God can't hold responsibility, we have free will. We are made in His image after all and in order for us not to be God's slaves we have to make our own decisions. The main one being whether we accept Him or not. There are many questions, and God can and will answer them if you go to Him about them. Its as I've stated a personal relationship. He can handle all your questions, concerns, worries, fears, pain and anger.

I gotta go to a cookout, and I prolly won't be back on this thread. It has been fun, exciting, exhilarating and insightful in many ways but I can't do this forever. i appreciate all that were mature with their debate. For those that weren't mature, it is what it is do you. I didn't take anything personal and I hope no one else did. If someone feels offended by anything I said, I apologize that wasn't my intention. Take care, see ya in other threads

God gives us free will so we are not slaves, but then drops us in a world that is filled with one test of our faith in him after another? For what purpose? If he wants faithfulness, why not create mind-slaves? Would we have known any different? Would we have been any less happy? Maybe more so?

And again, God created this world with hurricanes an tidal waves and floods and freezes. Things man has/had no control over, yet they test humans every day, kill humans every year. Is he not respnsible for any of it? He holds no responsibility for the world he created, or how it affects the beings he created and placed within it? If you buy a goldfish, and then let the water evporate out of the bowl until the fish dies, do you hold no repsonsibility? The fish had a will of its own outside of yours, does that relieve you of all responsibility as it does for God?

Truth is religion explains free will away as the ultimate test of faith. Yet I know of none that explain WHY We are given free will, and then tested on that free will constantly. Im no expert on world religions, maybe someone knows one, but I dont. All Ive ever heard is the will of God is too grand for our minds to comprehend, the ultimate cop-out answer. Apparently our minds are too simple to understand God's will, but is complex enough to comprehend his existnce, heaven and hell, the tests here upon earth, etc. We are smart enough to understand just enough to bide by his test and conform to his universe, but not quite enough to understand why. Ironically convenient logic. One could almost say, a slave to his world and his desire for faith.

Would alien life disprove religion? Would it disprove Christianity?

So God is all powerful, but cant change it so that we dont explode into marshmallows when we see him?

Satan has no sway over him, but God still lets children me murdered, be born retarded, lets his believers die painful deaths, get cancer, lose loved ones, lets thousands of people die from natural disasters?

If he is real and all powerful like you say, why not save them? Or at least save his believers?

I dont want a religious answer. If you say its between me and God thats not a legitimate answer, because Im calling into question his reality. I want a set in stone, real-world, common sense answer. Not your religious bullshit talk about.

Evolution is a theory. Seeing birds grow different shaped beaks is a fact.
This doesn't ratify the rest of the theory, though. Like Neil was saying earlier, I suppose you could say that the theory of evolution could be considered as a probable explanation of the beginnings of life. However, alternative theories should also be given weight in this argument, and not just ridiculed.

What alternative theories have you presented that better explains the known facts? I must have missed that. I haven't seen any other theories presented.

What have you got? If you say "creationism" you will be ridiculed.

We have already established he has no better theory, he just has vague criticisms of current theories that make little sense. If you think scientific explanations have flaws, that leaves gaps for God to exist. That is all religion has to cling to these days. Religion dwells in the gaps that science has not explained yet. Once science explains these gaps, its religion that will evolve to survive. Its this very evolution of religion that proves it is hopelessly flawed, and false.

Everyone has their own veiws, no one can "force " them to do anything. I personally believe in God because: look around you... go outside... what do you see? trees? Grass? people? dogs? air? the sky? the universe? How else would you say that is made. Study science, and see how complex the simple cell is. It is out of our comprehension. We can't understand it.

Such as the mystery behind How the electron stays together (Neg and pos tend to move away from each other), and how in the Revelation it says how God releases his hand from the universe (Booom...END). And that was all written far before we knew how the electron worked.

Now for evolution, many people say we came from monkeys... why the hell is there still monkeys? did they forget to change? why don't we have any "Half" species?

The theory of evolution should not be tought in schools before show any viable proof that things/ species can actually change to another species.

Your 6th grade science teacher already answered all those questions for you.
And your proof that God exists because the electron worked before we understood it... makes no sense. *shrug* You do realize even the Catholic church itself has accepted evolution, right?

Can not one religious person here make any form of educated argument against evolution? Something a 6th grader could not refute?

Arguing that god must exist because of the complexity of the universe is silly; if the universe is too complex, why do you then introduce something even more complex to explain it? Just like the first cause argument, it's an infinite regress.

It is amazing how few people here understand the theories they're deriding. No one has ever claimed a species changes over night.

that is THE question... and why our religions exist.. with out it...there is no faith/religion.. if we had all the answers, then there is no point
