hey republicans

Would someone please explain to this old dumb country boy how this is moving FORWARD....since Obama won re-election the following companies have announced layoffs and cut backs due to the ACA (Obama care)......I would assume that the plan to stop the future from having any wealthy people is to kill the jobs that a lot of them started out at..............most of todays millionaires are 1st generation meaning they worked their way up to where they are..........by all means let's move "FORWARD".......

Company name..........................jobs cut

Kmart and Target announcing store closings and layoffs as well.....This doesn't look like FORWARD to me...I think in the months to come 48 to be exact...a lot of us are going to realize we pulled the wrong handle 2 Tuesdays ago....

And this is just the beginning of the layoffs, business closings, and hours cut back, but atleast we will have our free health care thank the Lord.....

I do have to say I am little frustrated about that. I think some of it is grandstanding to try and prove a point. There would be several ways they could cut costs or just deal with lower profits. But it is also something just about every economist has been saying about ACA before it was even signed into law, so they knew it was coming.

Yes Husker most of these businesses warned them ahead of time about what the legislation would cause....The thing I am mad about is it was passed behind closed doors and against the will of well over half of Americans.........We the people didn't even have a seat at that table.......They just rammed it down our throats....This is another reminder that Elections have Consequences......

I read through a large portion of this, but found something that stuck out as a "wtf" moment.

How does someone's age have anything to do with their intellectual ability to discuss politics; or anything for that matter?

Agreed

I'm not sure. There is something to be said of experienced, but mostly people need to educate themselves on the people, and the policies and make an informed decision from that. Not all people will agree, because not all people will have the same priorities or convictions, but civil productive discussions and compromise can change everything.

Just jabbing him back Rabbit for calling people names like Idiot....but I do believe knowledge can come with age and experience not that he can't have more book smarts but have 0 common sense.......Common sense and the past actions of businesses will tell him what they will do when their bottom line is affected.......Do you think he would know more about about how to run your business than you would?...........He has never had to worry about making a payroll or keeping lights on in a business but yet he knows their profit margins and when they have made too much money.....I just don't care for the demonizing business view and it bothers me something terrible.......

I didn't see all the jabs back and forth to be honest and I'm in no way claiming he is correct. With that said though we know as little about him as he does us. So in general, to say the least, we know nothing of each other in this situation.

Yeah, I was going to touch on that when he said it, but about halfway through my post, I realized that I couldn't point it out without sounding insulting. Age really has nothing to do with politics, and neither does "experience". How many people here have had a partner have an abortion? How many here have an opinion on it? The same questions could be asked for nearly every issue common in politics.

Honestly, though, experience running a business is not the same as majoring in economics. Everyone here, regarding the economy, anyway, is parroting something they've heard from someone else, whether it be conservative/liberal media, a friend, or family member. At least Proximity, at times, is using ideas based on real, peer reviewed economic theories. Because, after all, not even economics professors can definitively say what makes the economy grow and fall.

It's not all about left vs right. No one here knows who's actually correct.

Why don't you start a pizza chain if it is so easy? Them cutting employees down to part time proves you can not regulate people to do what you want.
Do you have any idea how much health insurance cost employers? It is astronomical, and obamacare is driving it up more.

I'm also guessing that the price given to make a pizza is ingredients, not overhead for the store, employee wages and other operating cost. Just another liberal exaggeration to vilify the successful.
Because the market is already saturated and I don't have the capital.

And yes, it's astronomical and we need to do something about it. What is one of the reason it's astronomical? Because people are guaranteed ER care whether or not they have insurance. When people who don't have insurance get ER care, they can't pay so that bill gets footed to people do DO have have insurance. It's ironic that people don't like government healthcare because we'd be paying for other people when that is what is happening now.

The ACA solves this by mandating that everyone get healthcare. This will bring down costs in two ways: it brings a lot of healthy people into the market. The healthy pay for the sick, that's how insurance works and since there will be more healthy people, there is more money to pay for healthcare costs and so costs go down. It's pretty simple.

Second, more people with insurance means that costs won't get shoved onto other people.

I wasn't going to comment, but amber was standing beside me reading with me. She has dealt with the age issue more then any one I know, mainly do to her field of study and her relatively young age. So to the least she was less then pleased, so it required me to comment. I told her to start her start her own account and post up... She declined that offer haha.
