hey finaly moving out, help?

Hello smokeoff it appears that you have not posted on our forums in several weeks, why not take a few moments to ask a question, help provide a solution or just engage in a conversation with another member in any one of our forums?

Since the server thinks i need to ask a ? i will.

I final will move out on my own in about a month. I know this forum has a very diverse population so i thought it would be a good place to ask.

For those of you who have moved out already what do i need to do. Beyond the simple stuff. I will be renting an apartment so you have that for a bases. But just wondering what you all did for like lets say renters insurance, heath insurance(scince my cheap *** job doesn't give this), money saving tips on food. Any info you think i should know of or look into would be very much appreciated. Thanks.

Definitely get renters insurance. Hopefully youll never need it, but just in case.

As for saving money on food, buy stuff in bulk if its practical. Now, I wouldnt buy 25 pounds of beef, but stuff like toilet paper, ketchup...youre gonna use it at some point.

Go to one of the "everythings a dollar" stores and look around- grab cleaning supplies, and stuff like clothes hangers, batteries, etc.

Yep was gonna say the same thing. Go to a dollar general store and I am sure you could get mass things for your apartment cheap. Hell I shop there and I am making payments on my house. So it saves you alot of money, trust me. just make sure you have a washer and dryer. i bought some before i moved into my first house and its was one of the smartest things i did. you will thank yourself every time one of your broke friends is having to go to a laundry mat or wear dirty *** clothes.

x infinity on buying items in bulk when you can.

If you have a Sam's available locally or something similar go there to buy condiments, toilet paper, bulk candy if you've got a sweet tooth, etc. Anything that canbe purchased in bulk that you can store will save you big bucks in the long run.

Renter's Insurance is somewhat of a must. 'Always better to have and not need than need and not have.' It's generally pretty cheap for heaps of coverage and in the case of unforseen tragedy such as a fire, tornado/hurricane/etc, home invasion-burglary you'll be sooooo glad you did.

Second-hand washer and dryer is a great idea as well. (This is assuming that the unit you're moving into has hookupsfor such) The on-site laundromats at most apartment complexes have machines that leave something to be desired and you'll end up constantly frustrated having to feed more and more money into a poorly maintained machine just to get your clothes half-ass clean.

Don't throw heaps of parties celebrating your new-found independence unless your neighbors are in the same age group and likely wouldn't be bothered by raucous parties being held by teens and young adults. Chronically angry neighbors do not make good neighbors.

Park your car in as well-lit of an area as possible and if you've got an alarm do not forget to arm it religiously upon leaving the car. Keep any and all valuables (HU faceplate, radar detector, CD cases, etc) out of sight when away from the vehicle. Make certain you aren't bumping noticeably near home. Apartment complexes are some of the most often hit targets for thieves.
