Yet religion remains an irrefutable part of our history, nation, and who we are as a people. And of course why every Christmas for example, ten of thousands of towns and cities across America continue to connect and revere these very things. Lest we not forget, you have no constitutional right to not be offended.

False. The crux is for Christians to figure out it is not their right to impose their beliefs or symbolisms upon the rest of the population, be they atheists or members of a different religion, in a manor other than that allowed by the constitution.

Christianity by definition encourages just the types of behavior you are commenting on...I don't think it is something they can figure out, unfortunately.

You cannot graph irrationality.

I am a believer....albeit not a strong one. Nor do I participate in many of the activities. For me, atheism doesn't seem to offer an afterlife and believing does. Not to say either choice precludes an afterlife.....

I don't see how I have anything to lose by believing contrasted with a greater potential loss by not believing.

I still don't understand why you say not believing is worse. Are we looking at this from the standpoint of a specific religion, or just from general belief in the existence of a god?
