Hex's or rainbow Xline?

I need shallow comps for my doors.

> 2 1/8" mounting depth

The hex's are exactly 2 1/8" long according to sonic electronix, which is exactly how deep i can go until i hit my windows. I dont really have enough room for any kind of spacers, but I can most likely fit a 1/8" mdf ring. (tight doors)

Now to the real question..

Which would you say are the better set? Wiuch would give me better midbass, smoother tweets? Trying to get an idea..

Hex's midbass = weakness...even with 200+ watts to'm

The tweets...the Cal25's mop the floor with them as well.....not to mention Hex's tweets are suspect

You'll get much more natural sounding midbass and grainier midrange with the paper coned Xplain driver IMO.

I find the Hex mid to have nasty break up ~2-3khz and worthless output under 150hz..

paper coned.. but 350 dollar paper. haha.
thanks for the response.
not quite so simple...reverse neodymium magnet, copper cap on the pole pice + some pretty famous tweeters. They are the tweeters that made a name for the Rainbow Professional line and Arc Audio ACS components. All around pretty nice set.

I wish there were a local shop around here that displays hex's.

I love diamond, but I guess if i go rainbow, I dont have to deal with the mounting depth situation.

I just did a set in a '94 RX-7 the other day, customer could not have been happier. He is now replacing his HEXs in his Pathfinder with Rainbows as well.

As posted above by Manny, it truly is a superior set. Not a biased opinion either, as I do offer both.

I've decided on the rainbow xline.

My friend might be buying my D6's shortly, once I get that cash, I'll stick it in the bank, and buy my rainbows =D

Then maybe ill go to my friend who's experienced in this area, and have him help me grind down the edges of my speaker inserts with a dremmel tool.
