Hertz Upgrade

Hello everyone,

I currently have 2 12inch hertz ds300.3 as my subs and am looking to upgrade. The SQ I get from the ds are absolutely amazing imo I want to keep that SQ but add a little more "thump" I was recommended Hertz Hx series. So my question is would 1 12inch Hx have more output than 2 DS. Is the money worth the upgrade. Any other compairable subs possibly a little cheaper? (Should I just spemd the extra 100 to get a mille series instead?) All input is appreciated.

Even when upgrading from 1 line of sub to another, going from 2 subs to 1 is going to cut your cone area in half - which will really hurt output.

Even at the same amount of power, double the cone area = 6db more output. Every 10db is perceived as being twice as loud (volume). Half the cone area would be 6db less.

My recommendation? Get 2 of the HX series or other higher power SQ subwoofers and run an amplifier that can power them. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif You can get at least a few db more, and if you go over 10db - it will sound twice as loud.

Have fun blowing your ears out. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Its 3db unless you double power also. And thats just a estimate since you could displace more with 1 sub than 2, than if you add motor force and larger coil it could cut that down more.

I have a HX 300

Great sound!

I have two boxes for it

1,1.3 sealed and a 1.5 ported

Both give excellent sq...but..the sealed sounds a bit better

The ported gets alot louder though...much more efficient

Me personally. .I like it loud and clean!....so the ported works well for me

Plus I like having room in my trunk!

I'm running an hx300d in a 1.95 cube ported @39hz and its amazing. It keeps up with my highs perfect, blends perfect, and if I turn up the sub level, really pounds....

I've ran 2 true bass ultra 8s, 2 Polk momo 10s, a single pioneer spl2000 12, and both the 8s and 10s at once, all off the same amp I'm currently running the hrtz on at 8ohms. I must say, the hertz has satisfied me by far!

Your obviously not looking for straight SPL, so I would say go for it.... u can always add a second hx if ur not satisfied, but in the right box with 6-700 RMS, I think u will be pleasently surprised!
