Hertz HCX 165's ??

Yea, the placement....My rear location is at the bottom of my back doors. Which makes it really difficult to tune them. But, I don't think that is the reason my existing BA sr65's sound like they do...They've had a really odd tone to them from the time that I get them from Amazon and seem to just get worse.

I can get the Hertz HXC's on eBay for $289 and I was looking at some reviews of the Polk Audio MM6501 comp set for $219. Looking for something that will sound as nice as my Pro60's do up front.

Would pay up to 3 bones...for a higher end set.(if i found a great deal) But, would like to keep it closer to $200 for a nice quality set.

Also, Considering the ****** location that they're in...Would a component set be better back there instead of the coax? Thought that I may be able to raise

the sound up out of the floor better that way (with the tweet higher up on the door)

Stage height might be better for rear passengers but not really for your front stage. Personally, id do coaxs.

Look into HAT Imagines, used BA PROs...or.components, i like the Image Dynamics CTX comps...Polk MMs are nice too

K...of these three(and consider the prices) which would you guys recommend? My guy here at the local shop says that the Pro's are the best of the three...But, I'm assuming that he's saying that because he's trying to make a sell. and he knows that he can't match the deal that I found on the JL C5-650x (more than half the retail price)

But, I'm down to the Hertz HXC for $289...the Boston Pro's (says he'll let me know tomorrow on his price) or the JL C5-650x's.

Yeah, that's kind of my issue with them...I've never actually heard them installed before.(just on the demo wall)

So, I would be basically going off of reputation with them. I do like their subs...

But, I know that that doesn't necessarily mean they make great full range speakers.

Honestly when I got into audio I mad some big mistakes..

If you love music, get a highend set..

If you just like it loud some decent coaxials will suffice..

For 300 bucks I'd suggest Dayton audio reference mids with a set of cdt drt 26s..

That will compete with much more expensive systems..

A 12bd octave cover from Dayton with a xover point at 3k..

Should be right at 300..

The next step up will be the highend hertz rainbow or cdt es..
