Ok my amp is a Memphis 16-st1500D. 1500wrms@ 2 ohms , 1000wrms@ 4 ohms. I picked up a XXX15 off ebay for a good deal however it is dual 2 so either one or 4 ohm operation...I have found a good deal on a pair of RLP12's dvc 2 ohms. Any setup I go with will be sealed period..Just my prefrence...Ported is great but for this app sealed is the nameof the game. So here are my options..

1: run the XXX15 off 1000wrms@ 4ohms

2: Sell my memphis and buy 1500watt 1 ohm amp (thinking PPI)

3: Buy the 2 RL-p 12's and run the memphis on them @ 1500wrms @ 2 ohms...

4:Hunt and seek out another 15XXX and run 2 15XXX @ 1500 wrms

What do you guys think the best route is? Looking for the loudest SQL setup without porting...

May i ask why you don't want to port?

You may...Not because I dont believe porting can sound good...I used to have a XXX12 ported..Loved it. However sealed I can keep it around 2cubes give or take (unless I bought a 2nd XXX15 but that is a long shot anyway) Porting I am looking at no less then 4+ cubes. I have a big vehicle (2000 Jeep grand cherokee) However I am wanting to conserve as much cargo area as possible by not porting I can go with a much stealthier lower profile install...and save room.

I think I am sticking with the XXX15....I bought a cadence Z7000 1500wrms x1 @ 1ohm...Now all I have to do is get Jtomsic to send me the XXX or at least respond to my emails. I won the item off ebay. Has anyone ever had any dealings with Jtomsic?? I see he has been around here for a while.

Thanks

Ian

i've run the 16-mc1000D an had experience with the mojo 2000D

IMO....the xxx sealed (from experience) wont want much more than 1000W rms without the voice coil heatingup real bad....they stay WAY cooler in ported boxes. i ran the memphis 1000D to my XXX sealed and it still sounded great. any more power ina sealed box would be bad for it. Personally i'd port it but i understand ur criteria and need for space so sealed it will be. ur amps kick *** BTW //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I'd say go ahead and run it at 4ohms, since that'll give the amp better control of the sub haveing the voice coils wired in series, you amp will ran much cooler, and the sub wont want too much more power than what you'll give it. and if you ever decided to port it, you can still run it at 4 ohms for daily, and burp it at 1 ohm for comps..

.. or if you decided you want a lil more power for ur XXX then call RE and see how much it would be to ship back to RE and havem recone it to a dual 1 ohm config, i know it's $75 + ship, and if u live KY it may not be as bad as it was for me in tampa ($180 round trip for the sub).....ii tell you what though, ported, that sub would LLLOOOOVVEEE 1500w rms

...then again if you get another xxx15 then 750w rms would be just fine for them sealed.......

try it @ 4 ohms sealed and if it sucks, then get the rl-p's //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
