ok so here is the description of my Ported Box

width: 38"

depth: 14 & 3/4 "

height: 14''

Gross air space: 1.71 cu ft per chamber

Net air space: 1.48 cu ft per chamber

port volume: .23 cu ft

tuning : F3= 29hz, ripple= 4.4db, FB= 35hz

ok so i have (2) 12'' Type R's (SWR 12D2) and some songs they sounds great and hit hard but other songs there is hardly any bass and doesnt sound as great. Definitely doesnt hit low notes well at all. Can anyone tell me by these specs on this box if this box is any good for these subs or should i look into getting a new box?

my amp is a Hifonics BRX2000.1D and its rated at 1400 rms x1 @ 2 ohms and my subs are wired to 2 ohms. my gain i set just under half way and my bass boost is all the way down, my LPF is set around 100hz..... is it my box or are my setting set up wrong?????

Name some songs that you play that hit hard and some that does not hit hard.

What is the subsonic filter set at?

next how is your box positioned and what car is this?

Is it a custom handbuilt box or something bought online?

Specs dont look good, too small and too little port area

Proper gross volume for a 1.5 net slot port is around 2.1 to 2.3 cubes gross

I'm thinking either too much or too little port area. What are the port dimensions?

Too much could yield a very small bandwidth, causing some songs to "hit a lot harder than others".

The box may have a "peaky" response curve

Also its in a 2005 Nissan Altima and its facing out the trunk meaning if you pop the trunk you see my subs and not the back of the box

Gotta go with a custom ported. Your lpf is set to 80-100, not ss. That box is too small man. Pm me if you want a better box. I'll hook you up.

Yeah man box is not good. Like auldbrich said, too much port area can be bad but not enough will be just as bad because of port compression, you are losing out on lower notes from too little port area and not enough airspace. The subs themselves take up room in the enclosure, enough room to drive the tuning up a whole hz.

Cscstang is doing a dual type R build for a local guy, he does great work, hit him up for a box man.

My box is tuned to 30hz and a mili doesnt bump for SSHIT! It doesnt even have bass lol your bandwidth might be the issue. Maybe its tuned low or as stated above the port area is wrong. Also i hope your lpf is set to that not your ss although i dont think any ss goes that high

Put on gets low. That was my favorite song when I had my SA8v2 in my car. People were like, "holy shit, that's an 8??" My box was tuned to 27hz

A Milli is a bit higher. Aston Martin Music bangs too.

Ditch the pre-fab

Your ssf should be 26 to 27 not 30s
