right ive just spent about 400 pounds on a system i now not alot but it will do me for now i have a vibe cbr 10 active and vibe slick 6x9s in the back with no amp i am planning to get an amp for these they are 420 watt but watt amo should i get what power etc? i am doind electronic engineering at college 2nd year and i camt beleive i dont know this lol

Also in the future i will be looking to be getting a second sub would it be clever to get the same sub or could i get a smaller 8 inch one ?

your help and thoughts please guys

Do you have any front speakers? Did you want to aplify these also or just the rear 6x9's???

And if you plan to run 2 subs always run the same exact model and size. Never mix different sizes or models.

i do have two upgraded front speakers there only about 4 inch but there half decent of the head unit so there not a problem so just the 6x9s in the back?

and y is that then what would happen if you mixed two subs ?

right, i have some vibe slick 6x9s 420 watt parcel shelf speakers i would like to buy and amp for, what size amp do you recommend, and what make? my budget is small due to hardly any work at the minute.

Well you would need a 2 channel amp for the 6x9's. Sadly they are not 420 watts as you were lead to believe. They are only rated for 135 watts RMS. And I would doubt they could handle that much clean power. The 420 watt rating is the max and is virtually useless.

Since you are on a budget this amp will work fine for your speakers.

And as far as mixing sub sizes and models. Each sub has different T/S parameters and hence will play differently. To break it down in the simplest form, it will sound rather crappy. If running in the same box, it could also lead to equipment failure. So you do not ever want to do this.
