Help Please with Wiring a sub to a german Mono Amp

Hi,

I just got a german Mac Audio Mpx Mono amp. I have the Image Dynamics IDQ10 Sub.

I want to connect them but everything I try I just get confused.

The sub is DVC 4 ohm (2 ohm). I tried those 2 situations:

my.php

The amp supposed to output 400 RMS power but it doesnt move the subwoofer at all.

Here is a blank diagram please help

those two diagrams are the same thing electrically. In the first you're doing the parallel connection at the amp, in the second on the wires.

I'm guessing the amp produces 400w at 2 ohms, which is more than enough power for the 250w idq 10.

I would start looking at amp and HU settings. Make sure it's not something simple like having the HU faded away from the subs, or the sub volume is turned down. Then make sure your gain and any filters on the amp are set correctly.

The amp is 1 channel but has two sets of channels! (that's whats weird!)

Everything is OK on my headunit and the settings on the amp. It Just doesnt work properly.

I've seen the same type of connection on the Infinity Reference amps but I dont know if the same wiring will work or harm.

Your diarams are both ok, you need to figure out if the amp is coming on. Do you have a 12v source to the pwr connector when it is all plugged in, does your remote wire read 12v when the car starts. Is there a light on the amp. Doe the RCA's register any voltages?

Dig out the multimeter and eliminate layer 1 issues!

The amp works and the subwoofer also works (You can hear sound comming out of it) but the doesnt move at all like it works as a speaker. I tried all the possible connections and nothing helps. It is brand New!

Sounds like the coils are wired out of phase.
That's what I was thinking.

OP, check your connections THOROUGHLY. If you have everything wired + to + and - to -, check the terminals on teh ID to make sure they are labeled properly- it is very possible to get a driver that isn't. Use a 9v battery and wire it to the terminals as you would an amp (++ and --). If the cone moves forward, it is correct. Check both sets of terminals.
