Help please! Need input on my next build

Ok, I've assembled quite a few thrown together systems, but I just recently got my first decent car and wanna do it right. I need help deciding on a pair of 12s, I currently have old mtx thunders, about 400rms a piece, and am looking for a solid upgrade. My first thought is a pair of 12d2 type rs, because they seem great for the money. I'm prettymuch set on a boss nxd4500, I'm on a budget and they have great reviews from what I've seen.

Basically, I'm looking for really powerful bass, louder in the chest than in the ears. A friend of mine pointed out power Acoustik mofos, and I like what I've read, but I know they're cheap. Basically, what would you guys recommend for 12s that I could find on eBay for around 400 bucks? I have no problem building a proper box, and already found a solid alternator upgrade, and have a 4 gauge wiring kit on its way. Any input is appreciated, thank you

You need to stop listening to your friends boss and power acoustic is garbage $400 can get you a nice set of subs that will pound. Anyway what's your goals here? What car?

Avoid Boss at all costs. There was a guy here 3 weeks ago saying how great all his Boss equipment was then came back last week to tell us it blew up. They will perform poorly, fail prematurely, and hold little re-sale value if you ever want to upgrade or get out of it.

Don't waste your money on an alt and then run 4 gauge wire.. Type R subs are good. If it were me I'd get a ppi 1800.1 or preferably a Hifonics 2400.1 if I were on a budget.

I've heard of the hifonics, I'll check that out. It's going in the trunk of a mk4 Jetta. I still have a set of ks65 kickers I'll be putting in, and may get type r components as well.
