I m in the process of wiring everything, and i have hit a small problem that is a bit confusing.

My aiwa CD player has only one set of preouts 1 Left and 1 Right. The problem is they ARE labled as rear outputs. So when i hooked up my amp (amp powering front speakers and rear on headunit) everything was coming faded and light, until i put the fader on rear. My question is how can i get this mess cleared up.

Pete

u cant, if u only have 1 rca, and want to be able to fade to the front and listen to speakers up front that are on a amp with rcas ran to the rear pre out, it isnt possible, the only way to fix it is to get a cd player with front rcas

What about this, i asked my friend and he suggested:

I connect the rear speakers (the ones to be NOT AMPED) to the front connectors on the cd player . Then i would have the amp connected to the rear preouts with its speakers situated in the front. Supposedly this way i would have fader control but it would be the opposite Front would be rear and rear would be front.

I think in theory this would work, maybe i am wrong ..tell me what you think.

yeah itll work, itll just seem wierd

Certain music CD's send different sounds to the front and rear, so in your situation the staging of the music may sound weird. But in should work fine. Why are you only putting an amp on your front speakers? And how old is your Aiwa head unit??

I thought music has only been recorded in Left and right channels not front and right. Because if music is recorded in front and rear then it will sound way off, and then i wont like it.

Can someone pls confirm this ??.

The reason i am using the amp to power the front speakers only is because i will use its other 2 channels and bridge them for a sub (its a us acoustic 4085 amp 4ch) . The aiwa Headunit is about 2 yrs old. I would buy a new one but i dont have the dough for a new one now.

Yes, cd's are recorded in stereo, that's left and right. not left, right, left rear, right rear. Now I'm not saying there are no albums recorded in "quadraphonic" sound but 99.9% are not.

Do you think my solution will be fine or is it time to buy a new HU. If i buy a new HU will my overall experiance with the new amp and speakers be a better off. I was thinking oif thre alpine 9805. ???

I wouldn't say 99.9%. Most audio CD's have elements in them, parts of the song, that come across stronger in the front than the rear, or vice-versa. It is unknown whether or not it is intentional. When you listen to it in stereo, you still hear everything, it just sounds a little different. Either way you can't discount the idea.

As for the question at hand. Try hooking it up like this and see if you like it. If you do leave it, there is no reason to waste money on a new HU if you are happy with what you have.
