Help building voltage/amp meters

Can anyone show me a site that can teach me how to build a volt meter and a amp meter for my truck. I want to be more hands on and this seems like it coud be easy.

Or if anyone here knows how that would be awesome to.

I have looked at those vellmen kits, other then the 1 you put up I only found the handheld ones. I need one I can mount in my dash to I can get a constant readout of it. I hope this is making sense. The ebay ones you were showing me were what I am looking for. I didnt think they would be 20-35 bucks haha ouch.

that's what a Stinger voltmeter would cost. This way you get voltmeter and you get ammeter, with a shunt, to 200A.

I like the idea of this, but it seems like it would be cheaper and easier to buy a $6 - $12 pocket meter and take it apart and install it in your dash.
