Hello everyone!
I've been into car audio since I was 16 years old but never really installed anything myself. I've always had my car audio items installed by professional installers. Now i'm in my 30's I want to learn how to do these installations myself and hope that you all can give me great advice to get started.
I first started out with a 1998 honda civic coupe in which i remember to get the most sound out of my stereo, the installer recommended that I put a huge ported box with a 15" in my trunk connected to this tiny amp. While it was all nice and good, I remember I could barely fit groceries in my trunk.
My next vehicle that I had work done was a 1995 mitsubishi eclipse gsx and decided away from the big sub in the trunk and just went with a viper remote start/alarm combo and new headunit. I also remember putting a system in my dad's 1994 subaru SVX. The was nice because the professional installer put a kenwood double din headunit in with license plate backup camera and kenwood amp. that was the nicest system I had installed in any car.
Finally I have a 2011 Subaru WRX hatchback and saved up some pennies to start installing aftermarket audio equipment. I just purchased myself a new Kenwood Excelon DNX891HD navigation headunit and am trying to get the rest of the equipment to do my very first install instead of paying people to do it for me.
Hopefully I can find people in the tristate area who can help in person as I'm not too sure I know what I'm doing.
Thanks for reading my post and hope to comment and learn about car audio from here.
