I listen to heavy metal mainly, some rap and a lil dubstep. Can I get the bass I need for heavy metal music from 1 15" sub. or should I go 2 12's ?

Size only plays in a role on how big of a box you can fit into your vehicle. Has no effect on if it plays metal or not.

PS i'm a metal head and my 4 18s are perfect for double bass kicks..
