Heat-proofing wire?

I have four runs of 1/0 from front to back, and right now it's not hooked up, I have it secured in the engine bay sitting there and ran to the trunk. They way it is ran, it is 2-3 inches from my exhaust pipe, and I'm a little scared about that. I may be able to get access to a lift to get under the engine and secure the wire better, but I was wondering if there was anything to put around/on the 1/0 near the exhaust to make sure I don't have any problems?

Stop being lazy and find somewhere to run it in the car

I know from experience shortcutting under the car is a terrible idea.

I relocated my battery to the trunk in my old car, and ran the cable under the car, and one day i was driving along and my dash started flickering, and then my car died completely in the middle of the street, and sure enough the cable made it's way over to the exhaust and melted through

luckily the cable was my only battery, so as soon as it melted the car shut off, running a cable like that for an amp is an even worse idea, because your car is going to continue operating, and you're going to have a serious risk of fire or actual damage to your charging system

re route the wire. had a problem like that with turbo heat. (i mean freekin oven) the wire kept melting, and melting everything we used to cover/wrap it. nothing really worked. moving the wire did.

Not being lazy, being practical. It's ran from hood to under the floor on the driver's side, and then ran inside to the trunk. No way in hell you could fit more than 1 run of 1/0 through the firewall, and no way in hell you could fit anything behind the dash to cut that firewall.

I have my 1/0 on the other side of the car as the exhaust ftw.
x2. I ran mine down my shock tower up front and then through the frame and there was a hole in the back covered by a rubber gromit, almost like that is what it was meant for 1/0.

HomeDepot.com has an insulation tape that is suppose to withstand 500F degrees It called Silicon Sealant tape or Silicon Fusion tape. It is for a permanent insulation and it sure within 24 hours. and if there is high heat itll be ALOT faster for curing. Also... after your wrap that i would also think about wraping it with some teflon/poly spiral wrap. This stuff can be found at your local HD. Teflon is suppose to have a 500F+ temperature rating. they are all meant for extreme temperatures.

You should be fine if you run it with both... Also they sell protective sleeves that are meant for extreme temperatures for under the hood. i think schucks carries it and most automotive stores should have it too.
