Heartburn

I take the purple pill. Nexeum. I used to wake up at night with my chest feeling like it was a giant cramp. If I skip more than one dose though, it acts up. But nothing like before.

How many of you had bad heartburn problems?
I have bad heartburn. Every night I take a Pepcid Complete to help with it at night. I still get it during the night and have to end up taking 1+ Rolaid Extra Strengths during the night. When I wake up I have heartburn. It never goes away. During the day I have to take anywhere between 7-12 extra strength Rolaids to keep the pain under control. I am serious too. I really need to see a doctor about it.
My Dad had heartburn like that for most of my childhood. When I was about 15 or 16 he was diagnosed with a hienal hernia. When I was 18, they finally figured out that it was really lung cancer. He died a few years later.

Now I am not trying to scare you into thinking you have cancer or anything, but what I am saying is get that shit checked out bro. I don't know how old you are or how fit you are, but see a dcotor asap.

Also, I am normally an overweight kind of guy and when I stop working out for a short amount of time, or when I start eating crappy food, I get heartburn too. It is like my body telling me to work out and lay off the junk foods.

go to the Dr. and get a PPI (proton pump inhibitor) like Nexium or Protonix. I did and I feel a lot better. Its a pain in the *** getting insurance to pay for it for very long though and I have BC/BS.

Yeah im gonna have to go see the doc. Its getting to the point where im tired of it. Been living with if for more then 2 years constantly now. Docs gonna tell me that my esophagus is fucked up.

Just go get the $10 pill if it works there is no reason to go to the Dr. You can mention it at your next checkup but all they are going to do is charge you for an office visit to tell you the same thing we have.

prilosec otc...I take it daily otherwise life sucks. Luckily they have a generic for it now so its cheaper than 50 cents a pill
Word on prilosec.

I did not know they had a generic out. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

Couple of things you can do to help.

Don't overeat.

Try not to eat after 7 or so at night. Thats about the limit for me, or I wake up **** near puking.

Avoid chocolates, caffine, or alchohol....this one doesn't tend to get followed by me or anyone I know. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

I dont work out at all. Maybe thats my problem. I really dont eat bad though.
Well from my experience, if I don't do any cardio for a few weeks, I get some heartburn at night. If I get back to working out, it goes away. Not saying that is for sure going to work for you, but it did for me.

Also, this cured my back pain as well. Running 2 miles a day seemed to be a miracle cure for most of my ailments.

Omeprazole/Prilosec FTMFW

Around $18 for 42, which is 6 weeks' worth. $3 a week. It's unbelievable.

As for Nexium, it's virtually the same thing as Prilosec, but costs around 10x as much.

BTW OP, do you smoke?

I never knew the meaning of heartburn until last year... I've become extra sensitive to anything with tomatoes, ie. spaghetti sauce, pizza, etc //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

If it becomes a problem, you learn to take things ahead of time to prevent the heartburn which helps out a lot //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
