Hearing radar detector over system?

I was really wanting a radar detector, but what are the chances of hearing it go off over 2 15's? I know you could see the lights at night time , but in the day?
turn down your system and you'll hear it without issue. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif lol

You can hear it over the bass easily. Its the highs that will cover it up. I can hear mine fine.
nope actually its the woofers.

FYI my front stage is total crap //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

I have the Bel RX65 Pro (and it's pretty dang loud at full volume!) which has a headphone jack. I assume this would be for users that have motorcycles or something similar.

With the stereo up beyond a certain point I couldn't hear it go off. So ~ I got one of the el-cheapie amplified external speakers designed for CB radio use and after running the power, ground, and input wires where they wouldn't be seen I mounted it just above my seatbelt on the driver's side. The detector is on my windshield just above my rearview mirror but when it alerts the sound is right in my left ear.

Just an idea I figured I'd throw out there...though if you get a radar detector that doesn't have some kind of audio output then this wouldn't really be helpful to you at all.

I wonder....i know some headunits have a cell phone mute system. could you tie in the radar detector as the "cell phone" so when the radar beeps your system mutes to whatever volume?

I never could hear mine, but as someone stated there are some that hook up to your hu that go off in your stereo. But place it so you can see it but if I am speeding i normaly keep music down anyways because it adds to distraction and when I am going that fast I rather watch the road. And listen for the cops. Mine has saved me on alot of tickets for having to travel to work far distances and waking up late in the morning etc.

depending on where you live, or what detector you have, you would get sick of your stereo muteing ALL the time.

i have the escort x50 passport and it would beep over my stereo system (2 12"/1000rms) when playing. i just set the radar to "LOUD" and leave the volume control max.

why not just obey the speed limit?

1. dont have to buy radar detector

2. dont have to worry about being pulled over

3. dont have to pay ticket when detector craps itself

4. and you'll get better gas milage meaning less money at the pump

5. obeying the speed means no tickets which means "safe driver" which lowers your insurance

6. going slightly slower reduces brake wear when you have to stop

Yeah going that extra 10 - 20mph is worth it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

All the saved money can go to a louder system. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
