My headunit will skip or stop playing music (cds & usb) when I hit a bump or play a heavy bass track. Then the sub will take about 3seconds to start back up. This is a new problem. I recently blew out my SI Mag on only half volume, so I just put my friends 12" Obsidian in for the time being and noticed this problem. I'm going to take it out ASAP because I fear the same thing will happen to his subwoofer.
Could it be the RCAs? After taking my headunit out to see why my subwoofer wasn't working (before I knew it was blown) I noticed my door speaker amp wouldn't turn on. So I recently ran speaker wire from my subwoofer amps REM to my frontstage amp REM so that it would turn on. For some reason the REM wire wasn't turning on my door speaker amp (KNU RCAs w/ REM wire built in the middle)
Also, when I turn the car off..my subwoofer(s) make a faint thump noise.
Based on the information I've provided, Could someone shed some light on this issue? And how I can go about making a check list to see where the problem is coming from.
