its gotten worse lately, when at full tilt my headunit (kenwood excelon x590) will turn off and reset. i went through all my wiring and everything was solid. I figured it voltage was an issue the amp would go into protect but it never does......It does this within the first 3 seconds of full tilt. It also never did this before but agian i was never as loud. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

Ok, I had a Sony Xplod deck have this issue.

Let me ask you this: Assuming you installed it yourself, was there ANY sort of inline fuse in the wiring harness behinf the head unit? I had a one amp fuse set in the back of my wiring for some reason. It was inline with the 12 volt constant. It kept blowing up when I turned my head unit past half tilt. I replaced it with a 5 amp piece and it worked fine after that.

Now, for safety reasons, I am going to tell you that almost always, as in 99.9% of the time, a fuse of a particular size is there for a reason. I got lucky and there was never any issues with upping my fuse. I want you to realize it might not be the same for you.

So proceed with caution.

there was no inline fuse, but if i remember right the headunit its self has a fuse on the back. if that did blow though, it would not work at all...........

why not set your gain so the max is at say 90 instead of at volume 100? if the problem really is your HU not being able to play at full volume. which i doubt it is...

my headunit isnt maxed out when it cuts out. its at 29 / 35. my system is at full tilt/ wangin when it happens

try pulling the fuse on your sub's amp and see if it still happens. it's a start to figuring out what is causing it to shut off. just eliminate one component at a time...
